Ruby Avants DeLatte died at 7:10 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2010, at Golden Age Nursing Home, Denham Springs. She was 92, a native of Walker and a resident of Denham Springs. She was a retired claims processor with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma C. and Jerry Sanchez and Margaret D. and Raymond Hood; sister, Esther Avants Buff; grandchildren, Judy Cardon Falgoust and husband Barry, and Mark A. Cardon and wife Dianne; great-grandchildren, Lesley Ann Falgoust, Brett Owen Falgoust and Trent Anthony Cardon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Forrest DeLatte; parents, John Wesley and Alice McDowell Avants; son-in-law, Leroy A. Cardon; three brothers, James, Norman and Bob Avants; two sisters, Ada Meades and Bessie Shaffet; and special brother, Pete Avants.
She was a member of Walker Baptist Church.
Special thanks to Generations Hospice and the nurses and CNAs at Golden Age Nursing Home and two wonderful friends, Jane Blount and Linda Pieri.

Forrest DeLatte, a lifelong resident of Denham Springs, was born May 20, 1915, and passed away at 2:35 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was a retired Livingston Parish school bus driver, a former police juror of Ward 2 and a farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ruby Avants DeLatte; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma C. and Jerry Sanchez and Margaret D. and Raymond Hood; two grandchildren, Judy Cardon Falgoust and husband Barry, and Mark Cardon and wife Dianne; three great-grandchildren, Lesley Falgoust, Brett Falgoust and Trent Cardon; two sisters, Stella Dugas and Ethel Reeves; brother, Alton E. DeLatte; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Bennett DeLatte; sisters, Angeline Hooper, Lillie Paline, Elsie Harris, Nettie Felder, Bertha Crowder, Louella Cook, Adrienne Schaffet and Mary Tyler; and brothers, John, Wickliff, James, Ellis and Bernard DeLatte.
Pallbearers will be Barry and Brett Falgoust, Mark and Trent Cardon, Brian Dugas, Richard Barnett, Dale Johnson and Darrell Dugas.
