Mr. Stanley Avent, of Gibsonville, passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at 6:30 a.m., at his residence.
A native of Randolph County, he was the husband of Carol Avent and son of the late Clyde B. Avent and Effie S. Avent who survives.
Mr. Avent was of the Methodist faith, a former quarterback for Jordan-Matthews High School, a graduate of N.C. State University with honors making the Dean's List several times. He was also a member of the Engineers Council while at N.C. State.
He was retired from NASA as a Mission Control Facility Engineer after 34 years service.
He leaves behind his most precious possessions, his wife, Mrs. Carol Avent; and two daughters, Alyson Avent and Stephanie Avent all of the home; also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Effie S. Avent of Siler City; and his brother, Mr. Don B. Avent and his wife Joyce of Wilmington.
