On 26 Nov., 1753 John Brandon, Jr. was granted 640 acres on Buffalo Creek between the Western Path and John Nesbits. Brandon sold this land to James Miller on 20 Jul. 1756. James Miller kept it intact until 1 Apr. 1762 when he gave "231 acres on the west side of Dutch Buffalo Creek bordering Robert McPherson" to Abraham Miller "for the annual rent of one pepper corn at the feast of St. Michael and the Archangel:. Because of this unusual agreement, I believe Abraham was James Miller's oldest son. Also, this deed was signed by James and Catherine Miller in the same manner as on 1754 deeds in Augusta Co., VA.

Abraham I bought two tracts of land totaling 395 acres in 1767 and several more in the 1770's, 80's, and 90's. He retained most of the parcels until the late 1790's when he began to dispose of them. We then discovered Abraham I had moved to Burke County prior to the 1800 federal census and had bought at least two tracts of land. One of these tracts was 40 acres, located on Silver Creek, and surveyed in 1802. The other tract of 200 acres was willed to his son Abraham II. Abraham I wrote his will in 1804 and died in 1806.

Information supplied by the"Miller Times" by: Coyne Connell Miller Jr.-1991 edition Page # 3: Abraham I's sons James and Abraham II apparently moved with their father to Burke Co., NC. Abraham II, after his father died, sold his land and moved west into TN. William, the second son remained in Mecklenburg Co., NC. until 1828 where he, his wife Margaret, and his son Alexander jointly owned 248 acres of land which they sold on 8 May. He then, of course, moved on over to Warren Co., TN. and appears on the 1830 and 1840 Warren County census reports.
