Hazel spent 27 years with North Richland Drug Store. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Della Epps; brother, O.T. Epps; and sister, Louise Schmittou.
Survivors: Husband of 62 years, Owen H. Avants; daughter, Barbara Ann Akers; grandson, Rick Akers and his fiancee, Margaret Horrell; brother, Darrell Epps; numerous cousins and other relatives; and a host of friends.
