Jim Avent was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Earle Avent; daughter, Rebecca E. Brown; parents, Jessie and Sarah Avent; brother, Robert Avent; and sisters, Annie Lee Freeman and Mary Ellen Mobley.
Survivors include his daughter, Deborah A. Sims of Coker; sons, Thomas Steven Avent of Winfield and James Alex Avent of Fayette; brother, Jack Avent of Aventon, N.C.; son-in-law, David Brown; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Jim was the owner of Avent's 7-11 in Fayette for many years.
