Mona Avent was born on April 14, 1916, in Runnells County, Texas to Grover Cleveland Avent and Eva Lucinda Brister Avent. She attended school in Crews, Texas and graduated from Talpa High School.
Mona married Arnold Watkins on June 19, 1936, in Talpa, Texas. She moved to Crane in 1944 from Hobbs, New Mexico. She worked for many years for the Crane School District as a pastry cook. She served as an election clerk for Crane local elections. She moved to Odessa in 1998 and then to Midland in 2006.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Crane. She was preceded in death by her husband: Arnold Watkins in 2006; her daughter: Ruedell Collins in 2005; brother: Eldon Avent; and 2 sisters: Vena Todd and Ozella Stacy.

He was a foreman for Crane County for 32 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Crane. He is preceded in death by his precious daughter Ruedell Collins, sister Lois Graham and brothers L.L. Watkins and Leroy Watkins.
Arnold is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years Mona Watkins of Odessa; son in law Earl C.
