Misc. Notes
In July of 1913, Benjamin Franklin went to town to sell chickens. He stayed overnight in town. Rosalee, pregnant (with Hazel) and not in a good mood, went to her father's home on Woodard Mountain. Thomas Zachary refused to let Rosalee go back to Benjamin. Benjamin Franklin tried to see her, but Thomas Zachary would meet him on the porch with a shotgun. He tried to write her, but they would burn the corners of the letters and send them back unopened. Finally, Benjamin Franklin gave up trying to see her and moved to Louisiana. He and Rosalee were never divorced.

In Louisiana, Benjamin Franklin met and married Lillie Williams (he stretched the truth about his age and his marital status on the marriage license). They did not have any children. After Lillie died in 1938, Benjamin Franklin came back to Mississippi by bus. Rosalee insisted that they marry again -- hence the marriage of 29 October 1938. Finally back together again after all these years, Benjamin Franklin died just a year later in 1939.

Another interesting note: Hazel had always been taught that her father was dead. She was praying behind the chicken house one day, and "the Lord said he was not dead and to help find him." Hazel met Benjamin Franklin at the bus station.
