WEST POINT -Max Garland Avant, 69, died Sunday, April 18, 2004, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a native of Starkville. He was a layout technician with Babcock & Wilcox.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Avant of West Point; two daughters, Tina Avant of West Point, and Lynn Nance and DeLynn of Caledonia; two sons, Tim Avant of Starkville and Clint Avant of West Point; two sisters, Bess Easten and Joe of Baltimore, Md., and Lorene Stephens and Danny of Meridian; four brothers, Robert Avant and Mary of Salisbury, N.C., Omis Avant and Beverly of Starkville, Lamar Avant and Ruby of Columbia, S.C., and Tommy Avant and Dicie of Sturgis; four grandchildren, Stephanie Smith, Megin Nance, Clay Nance and Zack Avant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Tom and Lilly Avant, and a brother, Floyd Beasley.
Pallbearers will be Tony Taloney, Mike Weeks, Doug Dexter, David Rosamond, Hugh Avant, Jimmy Rowcliff and Doug Avant.
