Mrs. Patty Ruth Hensley Avent, 81, died Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Misssissippi.

Mrs. Avent was a retired floor Secretary at Baptist Memorial Hospital, where she worked for 28 years. She was a member of the South Oxford Congregational Methodist Church, where she also taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a former Girl Scout leader and Boy Scout mom. She was preceded in death by her parents, Velon and Ruth Hensley.

Mrs Avent is survived by her husband, James L. Avent of Oxford; two daughters, Patricia Avent Becker, and her husband Charles and JoAnne Avent Collins, both of Oxford; two sons, Jim Avent, and his wife Cathy and Mickey Avent, and his wife Tonja, both of Oxford; one sister Anne Johnsey of Oxford; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. James "Jimmy" Lee Avent, 88, died Monday, October 14, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS.

Survivors include two Daughters, Patricia Avent Becker and Husband, Charles, of Oxford, MS; and JoAnne Collins of Oxford, MS; two Sons, Jim Avent and Wife, Cathy, of Oxford, MS; and Mickey Avent and Wife, Tonja, of Oxford, MS; seven Grandchildren; and seven Great Grandchildren.

A Devoted Husband, he was preceded in death by his Wife of 66 years, Patty Ruth Hensley Avent.

He was a Member of the O.D. Smith Masonic Lodge and was Charter Member of South Oxford Methodist Church where he Served as a Deacon.

Mr. Avent worked as a Carpenter with many local builders for over fifty years before he Retired after working in the Engineering Department at North MS Regional Center for ten years.

Mr. Avent was Proud of his Family and enjoyed spending time with his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren and especially Loved Mowing Grass and Tending to his Yard.

He was a Great Story Teller with Extensive Knowledge of the History of Lafayette County. Mr.

Mr. Avent was preceded in death by three Brothers and one Sister.
