Joe Mitchell Avent, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 20, 2021. Joe was born on February 18, 1941 to Buster and Billie June Avent in Oklahoma City, OK.
He was always a hardworking man, with many capabilities. Joe spent time working in crop duster maintenance, surveying with Gulf petroleum, an electrician with Phillips 66, gas and electrical instrumentation supervisor with Johnson Controls - Los Alamos National Lab.
Joe will be dearly missed by his loving family; to which he is survived by his children, Mitchell Avent of Alvarado, TX, Lee Ann Norris of Newalla, OK, Travis Avent of Macomb, OK, and Stephen Avent of Edmond, OK; siblings, Anita Handy of Carlsbad, NM and Travis Avent of Albuquerque, NM. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Brandon Stout of Clayton, NC, Bryce Stout of Yukon, OK, Casey Avent of Oklahoma City, OK, Miranda Apodaca of Moore, OK, and Dylan Avent of Edmond, OK; and great grandchildren, Everly Stout, Bennett Stout, Tagen Apodaca, and Kohei Apodaca to cherish his memory.

Linda Ann (Todd) Avent went to be with her Lord on May 4, 2013, at Deaconess Hospital, Oklahoma City, after a long illness. She was born on June 24, 1945, at Kermit, TX to Mattie Lavelle Belue and Ray Allen Todd. Linda was raised in the Hobbs and Jal, NM area, where she graduated from Jal High School in 1963.
Linda married the love of her life, Joe Avent, November 26, 1963, at Jal, NM. They have been married 49 years.
During this time, they lived in Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and many other states while raising four children. They also have four grandchildren.
Linda worked for USF&G in Oklahoma for 12 years before moving to Texas and working for Phillips Petroleum Co. for six years. She then worked at Los Alamos Laboratory for 11 years when Joe took a job there. They retired in 2006 and moved back to Oklahoma to be near family.
Survivors include husband, Joe Avent, of Yukon, OK; Mitch Avent, Lewisville, TX; daughter, Lee Ann (Avent) Stout, of Bethany, OK; Major Travis Avent and wife Rhonda, of Pensacola, FL; Stephen Avent, of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren, Lt Brandon Stout, Bryce Stout, Casey Avent and Miranda Avent; two brothers, Donald Todd, of Jal, NM; and Ronnie Todd and wife Fran, of Norman, OK; and two sisters, Glenda Owen and husband Sammy, of Seminole, TX; and Judy Harkey and husband Jackie, of Odessa, TX.
