Mr. Johnnie Leon Aven, age 92, of Corsicana passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Sterling House in Corsicana. He was born on June 27, 1921 in Roane, Texas to John Cleveland and Ollie Blanche Buchanan Aven.

Mr. Aven was an avid farmer in Powell, Texas and it has been said that he was always working (and working faster than anyone else). After retiring from farming, he loved to travel and to play dominoes with friends. He served in the U S Army Air Corp during WW II spending some of his enlistment time in Iceland. He enlisted as a Private and was discharged as a Sergeant.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Genell, his parents, and also his siblings; Hazel Ragland, Helen Featherston, and Billy Gene Aven.

Mr. Aven is survived by his son Jackie G. Aven and wife, Jerry Ann of Houston, Texas; his grandchildren; Tammy Rea and husband , Don; Tracey Allen and husband Tony; Anisa Aven; and Chance G. Aven and wife Kimberly all of Houston.

He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren, five great great-grandchildren, his sister, Ruby Holloway of Mexia, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Genell F. Aven, 80, of Corsicana passed away Friday, June 21, 2002.

Mrs. Aven was born Oct. 1, 1921 in Dawson. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Northside Baptist Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Asberry and Lit Farmer; husband, Kelton K. French; and brothers, A.D. Farmer and Billy Farmer.

Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Leon Aven of Corsicana; son and daughter-in-law, Kenzie Verse and Karen French of Corsicana; daughter, Rhonda Joy French of Corsicana; stepson, Jackie Aven and wife Jerry of Houston; sisters, Daphene Thompson of Fort Worth, Dorothy Pierce of Burleson, Darlene Pruitt of Dallas, Sue Reeves of McKinney, Peggy Farmer of Tyler and Patsy Smith of Navarro Mills; brothers, Jackie Farmer of Corsicana and Charles Farmer of Burleson; grandsons, Joshua Verse French of San Marcos, Daniel A. Allen and Frank A. Allen, both of Corsicana, and Chance Aven of Houston; granddaughters, Dyce Caroline Carter, Kimberly J. Draper and Cara L. Draper, all of Corsicana, and Tracy Allen, Tammy Rea and Anisa Aven, all of Houston; numerous great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Billy McNabb, Joe Thompson, Cliff Chandler, Bill Thomas, Earl Alexander and Preston Graham.
