Brenda Carol Avant, age 57, died Saturday, February 26, 2011, in Tri-Lakes Medical Center at Batesville.

Born May 15, 1953, in Quitman County, Miss Avant was a daughter of the late Joseph Alton and Mary Ellen Davis Avant. Brenda was a member of Camp Ground Baptist Church in Water Valley and she loved everyone she met. She participated in Special Olympics in Columbus every year and she won fourth place in tennis at a national competition in Connecticut. Brenda lived with Clint and Pat Cade for two years before moving to Quail Run in Batesville where she was a resident for about ten years.

Survivors include six sisters, Patrecea Cade (Clint) of Water Valley, Tommie Inez Foster of Greenwood, Ind., Nina Quay Pindelton (Vidus) of Franklin, Ind, Jeraldine Riley (John) of Grovetown, Texas, Patricia Ann Waldo (Dennis) of Greenwood, Ind., Linda Richards (Marshall) of Hallsville, Texas; two brothers, Billy Leon Avant (Mildred), and  Clinton Wayne Avant, both of Water Valley; 27 nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Lorene Avant, Joyce Irene Avant, Beverly Avant Davis, and Betty Jo Coleman, and her brother, James Avant.
