Juanita Yarbrough, 85 year old Checotah resident passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2011 in Owasso, Oklahoma.
Juanita was born on Thursday, November 26, 1925 in Boynton, Oklahoma to Roy and Ella (Pledger) Nichols. She was raised in Onapa and graduated from Checotah High School. After graduation Juanita attended Oklahoma Baptist University and worked for Oklahoma Natural Gas.
On Sunday, June 1, 1947, at the age of twenty-two, Juanita married Virgil L. Yarbrough in Checotah. She began to work for Nichols Implement and then in 1965 she opened the Fashion Center, a ladies apparel store, in downtown Checotah and worked there until her retirement in 1977.
She enjoyed sewing, her doll collection, crocheting and reading.
Juanita was a member of Home Extension Club and First Baptist Church of Checotah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, of thirty nine years, Virgil Yarbrough; her sister, Wanda Small. J
Juanita is lovingly survived by her two children, Nick Yarbrough and wife Julie of Oologah, Oklahoma, Vicki Benson and husband Tom of Needville, Texas; grandchildren, Jeff Yarbrough and wife Jennifer, Steve Avant, Robin and Jason Thagard, Steven Burchfield, April Griffin, Jeremy Griffin, Katie Michael; great grandchildren, Kyndal Thagard, Cody Thagard, Nicholas Yarbrough, Aspen Yarbrough, Brayden Yarbrough, Gavin Yarbrough, Xander Griffin, Dylan Tash; sister, Ruth Adams, along with other extended family and friends.
