Surviving are his wife, Averi Hall Avent of the home; a daughter, Lillian Kate Avent of the home; his mother, Barbara M. Avent of Wilmington; a brother, Ted Avent of Lumberton; a sister, Susan Avent of Tampa, Fla.; and his maternal grandmother, Dainese McGoogan of Red Springs.
