Dorris Ray Howard, 80, of Bogue Chitto, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at his residence in Bogue Chitto.

Mr. Howard was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
He proudly represented our country in Korea where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
He supported his family as a welder, where he always took pride in a hard day's work and a job well done. He enjoyed time-spent fishing with his loved ones. He was married to his one true love for 58 years. He was the most loving husband, brother, daddy and pa paw. He will live in our hearts forever.

Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Howard and Myrtle Avants Howard; his grandson, Adam Howard; his mother and father-in-law, Johnny and Addie Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Jackson Howard; his seven children, David Howard and wife, Sandy, Audrey Brent and husband, Jakie, Jerry Howard and wife, Joyce, Susan Tanksley and husband, Kenny, Johnny Howard and wife, Janet, Stacey Howard, Amy Cannon and husband, Joey; his sisters, Joyce Nell Reeves and Ruby Dell Douglas; his 15 grandchildren, Kristy Wallace and husband, Travis, Kim Howard, Larissa Hart and husband, John, Billy Brent, Amber Williams, Josh Hymel, Angela Jackson and husband, Marty, Shea Johnson, Scotty Davis, Addie Howard Stanford and husband, Taylor, Joshua Howard, Joseph Howard, Andy Higginbotham, Cameron Cannon and Hunter Cannon; his ten great-grandchildren, Davis and Marshall Hart, Shyanne and Chase Jackson, Christina Williams, Enzo Johnson, Connor Johnson, Jackson Wallace, Cooper Wallace and Hadli Wallace.

Pallbearers were Billy Brent, Scotty Davis, Joshua Howard, Joseph Howard, Andy Higginbotham, Cameron Cannon and Hunter Cannon. Honorary pallbearers were Josh Hymel, John Hart, Marty Jackson, Travis Wallace and Taylor Stanford.
