George Alexander Pattillo, son of George Pattillo II and Jane Johnstone, was born 1722 probably in the village in Kinrossshire situated at the foot of Bishop Hill on the east side of Loch Leven called Kinnesswood, in Portmoak parish, Scotland.

According to the parish records, there are baptisms of children born to George Pattillo "in Kinnesswood" (the "in' denotes he was not a landowner) - no mother mentioned. His children were - James 1714, Ebenezer 1716, George 1718 (must have died infant) Janet 1721, George 1722, and Henry 1726
nd.

George A. emigrated in 1740 from Perthshire, Scotland. He and brother, Henry, may have come to Virginia because they had a Grand Uncle, James Pattillo, living there.

George and his brother, Henry, were closely associated with a large group of Scotch-Irish Presbyterians who had emigrated by way of Pennsylvania to the southern part of Virginia and settled in and around Cub Creek, Charlotte Co., Virginia, then Lunenburg Co., Virginia. John Caldwell (he was the grandfather of
John Caldwell Cahoun of South Carolina, vice president of the United States in 1824 under John Quincy Adams and re-elected in 1828 under Andrew Jackson) seemed to be the leader of this particular group as the area near Cub Creek was known as the "Caldwell Settlement."

He married Martha Verner July 1, 1757 in Cub Creek, Caldwell Settlement, Lunenburg Co., Virginia known later as Charlotte Co., Virginia. They were the parents of ten children: James, Sarah, William Henry, David, John Varner, Mary, Samuel, Martha, Janet and Jane Johnstone.

William Caldwell gave an acre of ground in Lunenburg Co., Va on 2 April 1751, as a cemetery for 31 men. Some of those buried are David and James Logan, John Middleton, Isaac Vernon (Varner, Varnon), and Pattillo.

He died and his burial was June 9, 1798 most likely in the Cub Creek/Caldwell Settlement Cemetery, Charlotte Co., Virginia. (No Actual Records found)

Note: The sixteenth century Scottish family patriarch’s surname was believed to be PATTULLOCK (1520-).
