There were probably more than one set of Johnstons with names of John, James etc. So they could be related. But Lancelot is a pretty good differentiator.
There is a James Johnson on the 1670 hearth tax list in Drumroe, TYrone. There is a John Johnston in Tullykerken; a John Johnson in Cookstowne. a James Johnson in Listenderry' and a James Johnson in Caven.
There's a Lancelot Johnston b. 1748 Ardess, Fermanagh County, Ireland MD married Zerurah Rice. He's the SC doctor."
