On his tombstone at Albion there was the following inscription: "Here lyeth interred the body of Robert Townshend, sonne to Mr Richard Townshend, and husband to Mary Townshend, daughter to Mr Needham Langhorne of Newton Brownshall in Northamptonshire, by whom he had two daughters and one son, Frances, Mary and Robert Baldwin. He departed this life Sept AD 1675, aged 35." On May 17, 1724, "the remains of the above mentioned Robert Townshend were removed by me to the family graveyard. Langhorne Dade, Jr."
