Hazel Smith Haney, 72, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at her residence in Wren.
She was born June 22, 1932, in Aberdeen to Locke Smith and Mattie Lee Williams Smith. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe County. She graduated from Aberdeen High School. She was employed at Rite Aid for nine years and was a homemaker. She was a member of Tranquil United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Amy Burrell and husband, Larry, of Wren; three sons, Jim Haney and wife, Katy, David Haney and wife, Joyce, and Alan Haney and wife, Trellis, all of Wren; two sisters, Grace Easter of Aberdeen and Mary Frances "Penny" Thompson and husband, Boyd, of Kosciusko; 11 grandchildren, Kristen Haney O'Brian, Matt Haney, Austin Haney, Cody Haney, Wesley Haney, Caleb Haney, Laken Burrell, Victoria Burrell, Locke Burrell, Misty Brewer and Jennifer Lundquist; four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oren Rieves "Snow" Haney; her parents; and two brothers, Ellis Houston Smith and Milton Smith.
Pallbearers will be Roger Goodwin, Ricky Goodwin, Richard Waster, Gene Haney, James Richard Haney and Richard Lynn Milstead. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Smith and Roy Haney.
