John W. "Wis" Ray, 74, of Eupora died Nov. 10, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora.

Mr. Ray was born April 26, 1932, in Webster County. He worked more than 40 years at Embry Drug Store in Eupora, then the last 16 years as a funeral director at Oliver Funeral Home in Eupora.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a longtime member of the Lions Club, where he served many years as the chairman of the Sight Committee. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Stephens Ray of Eupora; three sons, Steve Ray of St. Augustine, Fla., Ken Ray of Eupora and Rob Ray of West Jordan, Utah; a sister, Abbie Rico of Eupora; three brothers, Milton Ray, Vernon Ray and Willie L. Ray, all of West Point; eight grandchildren, Caroline Call, Sarah Hendrickson, Emily Ray, Anna Ray, Chad Ray, Erin Ray, Steven Ray and Laura Ray; and three great-grandchildren, Savannah Call, Austin Call and Carver Hendrickson.

Pallbearers were Butch Bagwell, James McCain, Redale Oswalt, Junior Ray, Michael Ray, Randy Rico and Steve Wells.

Mrs. Dorothy Ann Stephens Ray, 80, retired secretary and homemaker, died 10/22/15 at North Ms. Medical Center in Eupora,

Dorothy was born 10/10/35 in Webster County to Walter E. and Mamie Lee Burton Stephens. She married John Wister Ray of Eupora on 1/3/53 and was a member of the 1953 graduating class of Eupora High School. Mrs. Dorothy retired from Futorian after forty years of service. She served as secretary and bookkeeper for Dizzy Dean Baseball for many years, and was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served as secretary and treasurer.

Mrs. Dorothy was the devoted mother to three boys; Steve Ray of St. Augustine, Fl., married to Wanda and father to Steven and Laura. Ken Ray of Eupora, Ms., married to Ann and father to Chad and Erin, and Rob Ray of Ogden, Ut, married to Carol and father to Caroline, Sarah, Emily, and Anna. She was also a loving sister to Loye W. Stephens of Eupora, Ms., husband of Amy Oliver Stephens and father to Stephanie and Suzanne. She was a proud great-grandmother to twelve beautiful children and an adoring aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were; Chad Ray, Collin Carrol, Adam Wright, Wade Stephens, Dakota Burton and John Ballard.

Dorothy joins her husband and siblings that have gone on before her; John Wister “Wis” Ray, Corinne Williams, Mozelle Prewitt, Curtis Stephens, and Billy Joe Stephens. She will be missed by all in the community. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora was in charge of all arrangements.
