Dorothy Presley Thomas of Jacksonville Beach, Florida died December 29, 2004 at the Elizabeth House of Four Seasons Hospice in Hendersonville, North Carolina following a lengthy illness. She is the daughter of the late John Henry Subers and Fronia Welch Subers of Phoenix, Arizona.

She is survived by one son, Paul Phelps Presley, Jr. of Tallahassee, Florida; two daughters, Beverly Jean Presley of Worcester, Massachusetts and Nancy Presley Bowers of Hendersonville, North Carolina; and two grandchildren, John Paul Presley of Tallahassee, Florida and Caroline Presley Bowers of Hendersonville, North Carolina.

She served her country in the Women's Army Corps and volunteered in a variety of activities throughout her life including Cub Scout den mother, Brownie Scout troop leader, PTA president, Beaches Library volunteer, Ribault Garden Club member, St. Paul's by the Sea altar guild directress, Cancer Society patient transporter, member of the Pablo Kiwanis of Jacksonville Beach and Jacksonville Beach Women's Club.

She was an accomplished artist and founding member of the Jacksonville Water Color Society, and active supporter and member of many local arts groups including the St. Augustine Art Association, Jacksonville Art League, Beaches Fine Arts Center, and Neptune Arts Group.
