A native of Hendersonville/Penrose, Jack was a very treasured member of his family who will miss him very dearly. Born in August 1933 in Piedmont SC to the late Willie Mae Hughey and Bobby Hughey, Jack was a go getter and an all-around one of a kind man. He was a caretaker, a friend to all and was a master tinker. There was nothing he couldn't do.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Mae & Bobby Hughey; his brother, Sammy; Sister, Jean and late wife, Margaret Hughey.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of ten years, Martha Matthews of Hendersonville; his son, Steve Hughey and wife Linda of Boiling Springs SC; daughter, Sharon Jarrard and husband David of Gulfport Mississippi; son-in-law, Scott Matthews of Hendersonville and wife Greta; daughter-in-law, Kathy Cantrell and husband Tim of Hendersonville; his brothers and sisters, Peggy, Patsy, Ray, Keith, Billy, Becky, and Shirley (Arley). He is also survived by many, many grand and great grandchildren who loved him dearly adored and whom he adored.

Margaret Hughey of the Little River Community went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, after an extended illness.
She was a native of Transylvania County and had lived in the Little River community for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Gaillard R. and Mary E. Pierson Merrill. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Little River Baptist Church

She is survived by her husband, Robert Jackson "Jack" Hughey; a son, Robert Steven "Steve" Hughey and his wife Linda, of Fletcher; a daughter; Sharon Jarrard and her husband, David, of Gulfport, Miss.; one brother; G. Rex Merrill and his wife, Martha; six sisters, Lois Hall, Kathrine Bradley and her husband , John, Perry Lee Brown and her husband, Douglas, Betty Hargus, Doris Taylor, and her husband, Lewis; and Guyma Parris and her husband, Troy; a grandson, Jason and his wife, Angela of Greenville, S. C.; a granddaughter, Courtney Hughey of Weaverville; step grandchildren, David Jarrard Jr., Christine Jarrard and Jimma and Lindsey Wyatt; four great-grandchildren, Blake and Mackenzie Hughey and Cody and Caleb Jarrard, who were the joy of her life; and many nieces and nephews.
