He was born Sept. 26, 1919, in Transylvania County, a son of the late Rora Morgan and Elizabeth Annberry Middleton Blythe. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd George Blythe.

He was longtime owner of Blythe Television and Electronics Company on South Main Street in Hendersonville. Television signals were first transmitted to Hendersonville to his first business, Blythe Radio and Music Shop that was located at 100 6th Ave. E. in the Skyland Hotel.

He earned his broadcast engineer license when he was in his 30s and this included technical operations of radio station transmissions and ship to shore communications. In his earlier years, he was a formidable boxer and his notable energy and vitality pervaded his following years.

He formed an early appreciation for Latin culture and was fluent in Spanish. In 1957, he drove his family to Mexico City, orchestrating a lasting educational experience. Included in his many talents were electronic equipment design and construction, brick and stone masonry, and numerous lumber projects.

He possessed a generous spirit and his quiet acts of giving were from the heart. He forever encouraged others in their particular missions. He was of the Baptist faith and held a longtime bond with the Seventh-day Adventist community in Fletcher.
