Misc. Notes
The Robert Hill family was one of the early settlers of Henry County.

Robert was born in Pennsylvania in 1718. He married Violet Linus in Pennsylvania on 12 SEP 1741. They migrated to Virginia (probably on the Great Carolina Road). They are reported to be the first permanent settlers in what became Franklin County (carved out of Henry) where they built an Indian Fort. The remains still exist in Franklin County today.

Both Robert and Violet are listed as Revolutionary Patriots. Violet provided provision in 1778. Robert's Will is in Will Book 1, page 7 of the Henry County records. Their son, Thomas, was also a Revolutionary Patriot and he is listed several times in the Henry County Order Book for providing Patriot supplies, license for an ordinary house, and becoming an Ensign in the Militia.

Robert and Violet are buried in the Old Tanyard Cemetery in Rocky Mount.
