Funeral services for Vernon Reed were held on Dec. 3, 1973 from the East Fulton Baptist Church with burial in the East Fulton Cemetery with McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Fulton handling the arrangements.
Mr. Reed, a member of one of Itawamba County's most prominent families, died at 4 a.m. on Dec. 2 at the Itawamba County Hospital. He was a native of Fulton and had resided here all of his life. He was a former school teacher and a retired merchant. He was a Baptist.
Survivors included his wife, Mrs. Tula Reed; one son, Bobby Joe Reed of Belmont; one daughter, Mrs. Arthur Kermit McFerrin of Mantachie; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Summers, Mrs. Ethel Davis and Mrs. Mildred Gunter, all of Fulton; two brothers, Mitchell Reed of Fulton and Audie Reed of Mobile, Ala.; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
