Misc. Notes
Lupie (Solano) "Timmie" Timmons, 82, passed away on May 31, 2014 in Colorado Springs.

Lupie was born on August 20, 1931 in Boone, Colorado to Leonardo Solano and Cecilia (Razo) Solano. She graduated in 1950 from Avondale High School and joined the army in 1951.

She started her nursing career at 19 after joining the United States Army, Woman's Army Corps. She took basic training in Fort Lee, Virginia. From there she was stationed at Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn, New York. She then went to school at Walter Reed AMC for one year. While in the army, she met and married Vernon J. Timmons. As a military wife, Lupie belonged to many clubs, was a Girl Scout Leader, President and Vice President of the Enlisted Club and worked at the thrift store.

After Vernon retired from the Army, the family settled in Colorado Springs. Lupie, better known as "Timmie" by her co-workers and patients, began her 38-year nursing career here in Colorado Springs at Garden of the Gods Care Center, where she lovingly and selflessly cared for seniors as the med and rehab nurse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon J. Timmons and her youngest son, Joseph I. Timmons.

As a native of Colorado, she loved "her" mountains. She spent many years fishing and camping with Vernon in the mountains.
