Cecile Porter Piplar was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. She and her husband were founding members of the Church of the Holy Communion.

She attended Sweetbriar College and graduated from Rhodes College, formerly Southwestern, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Mrs. Piplar was a member of the Tuesday Study Club and Noel Club. She was also a member of the Memphis Country Club and a former member of the University Club and St. Andrews Club of Delray, Florida. She served on the boards of Les Passes, Le Bonheur, The Junior League, Lausanne School and the Woman's Exchange.

Mrs. Piplar leaves two daughters, Cecile McCaull of Greenwich, Connecticut, and Carol Barton of Naples, Florida. She also leaves three granddaughters, one grandson, and eight great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Catherine Brown of Seattle, Washington.

REAL ESTATE, CHARITABLE, CIVIC LEADER PIPLAR DIES

Charles Lee Piplar , who was active in the real estate community and local civic and charitable associations, died Friday at Baptist Memorial Hospital East. He was 81. 

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Church of the Holy Communion, where he was a member. Canale Funeral Directors has charge. 

Piplar , husband of Cecile Porter Piplar , was a former president of the Memphis Board of Realtors and Tennessee Board of Realtors and also served on the board of governors for the National Institute of Real Estate Brokers. 

He served as a director of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers and was the author of articles published by the University of Tennessee and the National Institute of Real Estate Brokers. 

Piplar served as president of Home Federal Savings & Loan Association from 1969 until he retired in 1978 and was director of the Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce. 

He was president of the Memphis Cotton Carnival in 1962 and was King of the Memphis Society. He served as president of the Memphis Visiting Nurses Association and served as director of St. George's Day School. 

He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Carol Barton of Memphis and Mrs. Cecile McCaull of Greenwich, Conn., and four grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to Church of the Holy Communion, MIFA or the Visiting Nurses Association.
