Ina Maude (Riney) Carstens, 97, died at her home in Montgomery, Alabama, on Saturday, December 24, 2011, from natural causes.

Mrs. Carstens was a resident of Jackson, Mississippi, for over 50 years before moving to Montgomery. While in Jackson, she was very involved in activities at Trinity Presbyterian Church and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends.

Mrs. Carstens was born April 29, 1914, in Memphis, Missouri, to Ethel Edith (Miller) and Roscoe C. Riney. After graduation she moved to Ft. Madison, Iowa, where she met and married Gail before moving to Jackson.

She is survived by her son Gary (Peggy) of Montgomery; two grandchildren: Shawn (Meg) Carstens and Shawna Lindsey of Montgomery; two great-grandchildren: Kate Lindsey and Will Carstens; three sisters: Ann Kaiser of Keokuk, Iowa, Chris (Jim) Bennett of Arvada, Colorado, and Mary Vandenbos of Lakewood, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Gail, son Greg, granddaughter Chase Carstens and four brothers: Bob, Raymond, Paul and Max Riney.
