Cecile Porter Piplar was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. She and her husband were founding members of the Church of the Holy Communion.

She attended Sweetbriar College and graduated from Rhodes College, formerly Southwestern, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Mrs. Piplar was a member of the Tuesday Study Club and Noel Club. She was also a member of the Memphis Country Club and a former member of the University Club and St. Andrews Club of Delray, Florida. She served on the boards of Les Passes, Le Bonheur, The Junior League, Lausanne School and the Woman's Exchange.

Mrs. Piplar leaves two daughters, Cecile McCaull of Greenwich, Connecticut, and Carol Barton of Naples, Florida. She also leaves three granddaughters, one grandson, and eight great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Catherine Brown of Seattle, Washington.
