Misc. Notes
William Perry is referred to as "Captain Billy," supposedly because of service he provided in the Mexican War (1846-48). However, there is difficulty in substantiating this service.
He was a farmer with quite a number of acres in North Carolina to care for. On the 1850 U.S. census of Anson County, NC, Diamond Hill District, William was listed as a Mechanic, with his wife Bedia, sons Thomas Wood and Jackson, as well as his daughter Polly Perry.
