John, Jr. was educated in England and came to America in 1630 with his father. He came to Boston in 1631, where he was a member of the governor's council in 1635, 1640, 1641,
1644-9. In 1633 he was one of the founder of Agawan (now Ipswich), Massachusetts. He was Governor of Connecticut for one year. He established ironworks at Lynn and Braintree. He went back to England in 1634, 1641 to 1643.
