May Wallace Latimer Wyatt Born December 23rd, 1911 in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her Sausalito home at 96 years of age, on January 14th, 2008.
After having attended
Agnes Scott College in Georgia, May met her husband of 63 years, James Strauder Wyatt, Jr., a Californian from Sausalito, at a house party in Sea Island, Georgia. The couple moved to Fresno where they lived for over 35 years.
There, May served as the Director of the Volunteer Bureau of the Fresno Community Council, as a founder of the Fresno Arts Center, as the first chairman of its Women's Board, as president of the Fresno Relief Society board, as a member of the Fresno Public Appeals Review Board, and as a member of the Service League, which was the forerunner of the Junior league of Fresno.
The Wyatts moved to Sausalito in 1972 where she was a member of the Sausalito Women's Club and where they lived until James' death in 1998 and May's death in 2008.
May leaves her daughter, Frances Hill Barlow, three grandchildren, Sarah Hill Lowe, Donald (Toby) Phillips Hill, Jr., and James Wyatt Hill, and two great grandchildren, James Wyatt Lowe and Cecily Christina Lowe.
