After graduating from “
Swanee” with a BA degree with honors in French literature he received a Rotary Foundation Fellowship to study architecture in France. He completed one year of study at the
Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris.
Memphis Architect Honored for Service to France
Memphis architect Metcalf Crump was named a
Knight in the National Order of Merit by French President
Jacques Chirac. The award was created in 1963 by President
Charles de Gaulle to recognize civilians, including some foreigners, for distinguished service to France.
Crump was cited for long years of service as the
Honorary Consul of France in Memphis assisting French citizens and organizations with personal, cultural or business affairs in Tennessee and Tennesseans with personal, cultural or business affairs in France.
