Misc. Notes
Mattye (Pat) Hood Humphries, daughter of Dora and E. J. Hood was born September 4, 1921 in Webster County, Mississippi and died November 27, 2012 in Carrollton, AL.

Pat was the devoted and loving wife for 69 years of Reverend Joseph Thomas Humphries, a Methodist minister in the Mississippi Conference, who preceded her in death in 2011. She was also the warm and loving mother of three children, Beverly H. Jones (Warren) of Washington, DC and Robin H. McDaniel (Jeff) of Akron, AL.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth, who died in 1981. She was also the mother-in-law to Jo Bell Livingston of Gallatin, TN.

Pat made a beautiful and welcoming home and had many close friends in every community where they lived, including Ethel, Moorhead, Corinth, Cleveland, Greenwood, Amory and Leland. Upon retirement, Pat and Joe were invited to live at Wister Gardens in Belzoni, Mississippi, and manage the beautiful public gardens, which they did for 12 years. Pat was an avid gardener and an award-winning flower arranger.

While in her 70's, she surprised her children with a written memoir of her life which gave treasured personal observations of a childhood in rural Mississippi in the 1920's and 1930's; a lifetime being the wife of a Methodist minister; and a recounting of their extensive international travel.

Pat was also a loving grandmother to Courtney Jones Wilson (Peter) from Reston, VA; Catherine Honore-Jones (Philippe) from Strasbourg, France; and Adam McDaniel from Atlanta, GA. She had four great grandchildren: Jonas and Paige Wilson and Solan and Cecilia Honore-Jones
