Funeral services were held for George Washington Ray, 80, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jesse Adams in Sweatman after an illness of seven months. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sallie Ray of Sweatman; five daughters, Mrs. Lee R. Adams, Sweatman; Mrs. J. D. Blakely, Mrs. A. J. Mitchell, Grenada; Mrs. L. A. Fugitt of Sherman, Texas; Mrs. J. C. Decesare of Harvey Cedars, N. J.; four sons,, E. B. Ray, St. Louis, Mo.; J. M., Pelahatchie; Dr. F. W., Rome, Ga.; Roy M. Ray of Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Cinda Solly of Rusk, Texas; Mrs. E. G. Williams of Alton, Texas; Mrs. Dora Oswalt of Eupora; one brother, B. M. Ray of Alto, Texas; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
