Inez was the daughter of the late Garland and Hester Jones Merrill. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Grooms and her sisters, Lorene Blythe and Christine and Leona Merrill.
A native of Transylvania County, she was a lifelong member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church. She graduated from Greenville General Hospital Nursing School and weas employed by Transylvania Community Hospital for 42 years. She was the former president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Inez loved flowers, basketball, baseball, the outdoors and traveling with her family. Most of all she adored her grandchildren.
