Joseph Galyon who settled in what is now Hartford County, Maryland in 1665. It was St. George's Parish of Baltimore County, Maryland.
It appears that he died shortly before 1700. The records indicate that there were 3 or 4 Gallion head of households at the beginning of the 1700s. They worshiped in Maryland at the Spesutia Episcopal Church. One of old Joseph's sons(John) was a vestryman of this church in abt. 1725....until he died.
In 1666, Joseph Gallion was given land granted in Baltimore County, MD on Gallens Bay. Later records spell his surname Gallion. The Land Grant was located on the south side of Bush River in a crook of the river called Earbee Creek. Location is further given as so far from a Walnut Tree to a Hickory Tree on a side of a marsh and reference to other similiar land marks. today is in the southern part of Harford County, MD
