Ripley and Rachel’s sixth son, Ripley Copeland, was born in March of 1761 in Chatham, North Carolina. He died on 29 May or June 6, 1843 in Sumpter County, South Carolina.
He enlisted on 10 March 1777 in Chatham County, North Carolina for three years. From his application for a
Revolutionary War pension, made on 10 Oct 1819 at the age of 58 years, we know that he served as a Private under Capt. Matthew Ramsey and Col. Masburn in North Carolina.
Ripley Copeland married Rachel (possibly Tucker) in March of 1781 after the
Battle of Guildford Courthouse.
Ripley lived in the Cheraw District of South Carolina in 1790; and then moved to the Sumpter District where he died in 1843.
