Andrew Woodley was a ship's captain before 1690 in Devon England.

He was a surveyor after 1690 in Virginia. He was appointed Sheriff in 1713-1714 in Isle of Wig County, Virginia. In those days the Sheriff was appointed by the king, not by popular vote.

Andrew is said to have had a good thing going. He hauled tobacco from Virginia to England and from England to Barbados and slaves and run from Barbados to Virginia.

In 1693 he was given 600 acres of land for transporting himself, his sons Thmas and Henry and wife Elizabeth, 5 negroes to the colonies 4 times. His will mentioned his surveyor's tools. He was commissioned to "run the line" between Isle of Wight and counties, Virginia.

He and Elizabeth Goddard were married about 1665 in Barbados.The entry lists of the children: Henry Woodley born about 1665 in England and died in Isle of Wright Virginia. Thomas Woodley born about 1668 in Isle of Wight County Virginia where he also died.
