In Caroline County, Virginia, Court for March 11, 1736, George Brassfield, Edward Savage, Elizabeth Savage, John Green, Manuel Pinn, James Hearn, Benjamin Haws, Patrick Welsh made oath that this is the first time of proving their right for their importation into this colony who assigned the same over to George Brassfield.  (Order Book 1732-1740, p 409, Caroline County, VA.) [Brasfield-Brassfield Genealogies, p 11] 

November 12, 1737, George Brasfield named on jury in decision in case of Thos. Catlett and Wm. Spicer.  (Order Book. 1732-1740, p 457, Caroline County, VA.)  June 11, 1737.  The petition brought by George Tilly against George Brassfield is dismissed.  (Order Book 1732-1740, p 431, Caroline County, VA.) 

In Caroline County Court March 8, 1744/45.  It is ordered that McDaniel, Jr., John Sneed and James Lindsey or any two of them view the land in dispute between Margaret Goode and George Brasfield and return their proceedings at the next Court.  (Order Book.  1741-1746, p 351) 

George Brassfield, John Robinson, John Smith, George Bullard, Thomas Jeter, James Potter and Francis Still were hired at cost of 1,470 pounds of tobacco to act as guards of Welsh on the journey to Williamsburg, VA., as Welsh was considered such a dangerous prisoner by the Magistrates.  Patrich Welsh was arrested in 1747, and was tried in the General Court of the Colony at Williamsburg for grand larceny, breaking and entering, and counterfeiting.  ("Colonial Caroline" - T.E. Cambell, p 119) 

The "Virginia Gazette" for June 12, 1752 (p. 3 col. 2) contained the following notice:  "Came to the Subscriber's Plantation in Caroline County, in September last, a large black Horse, with a hanging mane and sprig tail, and branded on the near Buttocks K.H.  The owner may have him on applying to me, and paying charges.  George Brasfield."
