Alba Wright Murff, 91, formerly of Bartahatchie Community near Gattman, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011, at her home in Vernon.
Born on September 7, 1919, in Marion County, AL, she was a daughter of the late John Calvin and Ida Little Wright.Mrs. Murff was a graduate of Hamilton High School, Class of 1939. On May 17, 1941, she married Stephen Newman Murff.
Mrs. Murff was a charter member of Bartahatchie Baptist Church where she had served as secretary-treasurer during its transformation from a mission through the building of the church.She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Lindsey) Gosa, Vernon; son, Bobby Stephen (Sherry) Murff, Gattman; grandchildren, Kimberly (Chad) Irvin, Vernon, Dewayne (Tasha) Murff, Gattman, Brian Keith Murff, Gattman, Raymond Murff, Caledonia, and Robert (Tracy) Murff, Hamilton, MS; great-grandchildren, Julia and Matthew Irvin, Trace and Tucker Murff, Alex and Hannah Murff, and Harley Murff; one great-great-grandson; brother, Eugene (Patsy) Wright, Becker; sisters-in-law, Ina Rhea Wright and Catherine Wright; a host of nieces, nephews and friends; and two very, very special people, Jean and Richard Hester.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Arlene Lockhart and Dorothy Peeples; and brothers, Braxton Wright and J. C. Wright, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne, Keith, Raymond, and Robert Murff, Ted Lockhart and Jerry Wright.
