Alvis Brasfield or "Uncle Alvis" to all the nieces and nephews, was a master carpenter and master brick mason. He was always in demand on constructions sites and built many houses in and around Smithville. He was also a cattle and pig farmer. He had built a model pig barn for his farm, way ahead of the times.
