Dewitt Talmadge Bailey, 94, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County. He was born June 4, 1909, in Union County to the late James A. Bailey and Addie Owen Bailey.
He was a retired pipe-fitter, working for Alyeska on the Alaskan pipe line. He was a member of Fredonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include his former wife and caregiver, Lucille Canerdy Rorie; a son, James W. Bailey and wife, Marie, of Anchorage, Alaska; three stepsons, Mike Freed of Kansas, and Galen Freed and Gene Freed, both of Washington; three grandchildren, Cristian Tafs and Philip Weedner, both of Anchorage, Alaska, and Edward R. Bailey of Gainesville, Fla.; one great-grandchild, Olivia Tafs of Anchorage, Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Dewitt Talmadge Bailey Jr.
Pallbearers will be Leo Rorie, Bob Bailey, Brown Bell, Mike Bell, Rudy Dowdy and Bill Bailey.
