AVENT, Daniel Vernon, of Urbanna, Virginia, on November 24, 2008, departed this earthly realm to enter the Heavenly realm where he will spend eternity with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and those saints that have gone on before him.
Dan leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Barbara Matthews Avent; his only son, Daniel V. Avent Jr; his daughter-in-law, Kristen S. Avent; his brother, Frank V. Avent III; his brother-in-law, the Honorable Judge Giles Clark; seven nephews, Frank Avent IV, Michael Avent, Neal Avent, Jim Matthews, Hank Matthews, Bob Clark, and Martin Clark; two nieces, Valerie Ward and Catherine Woodard; and a host of wonderful friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Vernon Avent, Sr.; sister, Dottie Matthews Clark; and brother, Jimmie Rodgers Matthews.
She leaves behind her son, Daniel Vernon Avent, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Kristen Signe Avent; both, along with the many people she touched during her life, will cherish their memories of Barbara always.
Barbara graduated from East Carolina College and worked for Hanover County Public Schools as a teacher. She loved to garden, decorate her home, and most of all to spend her days walking with the Lord.
