In the name of God Amen. I , Joseph Massey of Meherin Parish,
County of Brunswick, being very weak of body but of sound and perfect mind, of good memory and disposing attitude, thanks be to God for the same and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die, do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following hereby, revoking all other wills and testaments by me formerly made.

I commend myself into the hands of God who gave it and for my
body I commend to the earth in a Christian manner by me
Executors being hereinafter named.
1. I give and bequeath to my son John the land between my path
abounding by the said to the end of his lane then along Page's path to the Middle Creek and all in that bounds called the neck between the two creeks and to this heirs and assigns forever. I give and bequeath to John one negro man Jack.
2. I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Avent negro boy Ned.
3. I give to my daughter Amy Avent 20 shillings.
4. I give to my daughter Rebecca Wise 20 shillings.
5. I give unto my daughter Agnes Richardson 20 shillings.
6. I give unto my daughter Mary Wise 10 shillings.
7. I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Massie 5 shillings.
8. I give and bequeath unto my son William Massie 280 acres of land whereon he now lives and a negro boy named Junius, also a negro girl named Doll and all the hogs belonging to the plantation and cattle and house and all the housing stuffs and after my death all my saddle and housing.
9. I give unto my son Thomas Massie one half of my land not before mentioned and my son James to divide as he thinks fit - also bed and furniture, iron pott, ? dozen new plates and my bay stallion and his saddle and bridle and new housing, and my MILL and a dish - and a negro boy George and a negro girl Phyllis.
10. To my son James Massie I bequeath the plantation whereon I now live with 500 acres of land being the lower part of 1000 acres other than that I have given to my son Thomas Massie - also negroes Bob and Hannah.
11. I give unto my daughter Winifred a negro man Jacob and boy Simon.
12. I give to my daughter Lucy a bed and furniture and flat iron pott and a negro boy Minge and another named David.
13. To daughter Betty I bequeath a bed and furniture and iron pott and a negro wench named Sarah and a negro Boy Benson.
14. To daughter Frances I bequeath a bed and furniture and iron pott and a negro boy Abraham and a negro girl Fib.
15. To my beloved wife Elizabeth during her widowhood, all my estate both real and personal and negro boy Sam.
16. To my great-granddaughter Charlotte Massie negro Sam.
17. William and Thomas, my sons, should buy a horse apiece.
