James "Jr." Avants, Jr., 79, a native and lifelong resident of Walker, LA. Passed away Monday August 1, 2016, at his home in Pine Grove, La.
James was a lifelong logger, who won numerous logging awards. He also was a member of the Millwright Local 720.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories his children and their spouses, Henry and wife Janice Lamonica, Curtis and wife Sherry Lamonica, Jerry Avants, Sr. and Sherrie Blanchard; grandchildren and their spouses, Cindy McMorris and husband Darion, Tonya Achord and husband Bo, Jerry Avants, Jr., Danielle Avants, Ashley Newman and husband Danny, Lacey Blanchard, Chasity Blanchard, Shana Summers, Kody Pendergrass and husband Conner, Camron Summers, Cameron Severio, and Chris Melvin; sister, Joyce Tullier and husband A.J.; as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and his special caregivers, Glenda White and Vicki Spence.
Pallbearers will be Henry Lamonica, Jerry Avants, Sr, Bo Achord, Darion McMorris, Seth Dillon, George Truax. He is preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Avants; grandson, Joey Lamonica, his parents, James and Lola Avants; sisters, Yvonne "Sis" Blount and Bernice "Bonnie" Harwell; two brothers, Charles "Son" Avants and Roy Avants; and two half-brothers, Pete Avants and James Sibley.

Hazel Azalee Truax Avants, a native and resident of Walker died at 8:04 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at her home. She was 73.
Survived by her husband, James Avants Jr.; a daughter, Sherrie Lynn Avants Blanchard; three sons and daughters-in-law, Henry and Janice Lamonica, Curtis and Sherry Lamonica, and Jerry and Doris Avants; two sisters, Bernice Lott and Marie Aydell; three brothers, Harold, Frankie and George Truax; 12 grandchildren, Cindy McMorris, Tonya Achord, Jerry Avants Jr., Danielle Strickland, Ashley Avants, Lacey Blanchard, Chasity Blanchard, Shana Summers, Kody Summers, Camron Summers, Cameron Severio and Chris Melvin; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Annie Sibley Truax; and a grandson, Joseph Dwayne Lamonica.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Avants Jr., Chris Melvin, Joe Strickland, Bo Achord, George Truax Jr. and Danny Newman. Honorary pallbearers are Seth and Tylar Dillon and Jason Truax. She was a member of the House of Prayer Church in Walker.
