Lillian Aven Young, 96, of Columbus, died Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Winsor Place in Columbus. She was born March 15, 1918, in Grenada County to John Q. Aven, Sr. and Annie Litton Aven. She was a hairdresser and member of First Baptist Church in Calhoun City.
She is survived by her son, John Porter (Mary) Young of Columbus; two grandchildren, Robin (Kenny) Shepherd, Columbus and Kelli (Josh) Andrews, San Antonio, Texas; and four great-grandchildren; nieces, Peggy Threadgill, Annice Barton and Judy Abernathy; nephews, Jim Buck Aven, John Allen Aven, David Aven and Phil Poe.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Christine Poe, Clara Bell Aven and Mable Forrest; and two brothers, Jim Sid Aven and John Quincy Aven, Jr.
Pallbearers are Phil Poe, David Aven, Kenny Shepherd, Terry Threadgill, Todd Threadgill, and George Webb.
