Golda Avent was born on July 29, 1934, to Elva Arveta Foreman and Eldon Rayford Avent in Electra, TX. Her family later moved to Crane, TX.
After graduation at the age of 16 in 1951, she attended Draughn's Business School in Lubbock. She married her high school sweetheart, Buster Pendleton in her parents' front yard in Crane, TX on July 7, 1951.
Golda was a stay at home mom until 1965 when she went to work for the Crane Abstract office and later for the Crane County Attorney, Ken Spencer. After the family was transferred by Mobil Oil Company, to Burkburnett, TX in 1974 she earned her real estate license and began a successful career selling real estate.
Waleska joined the Order of Eastern Star in 1955 in Crane, TX. She later served as Worthy Matron for the Burkburnett Chapter # 655 in Burkburnett, TX in 1980. She was recently recognized as a sixty year member.
Waleska was an avid reader and loved music. She was active in the First Baptist Church in Crane and moved her membership to Central Baptist in Burkburnett. Her earliest memory of learning about Jesus was when she was 4 years old. Her grandmother prayed every night on her knees and before every meal. She accepted Jesus when she was 10 years old in Crane, TX.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Durwood, sister, Lovell Hatch, her husband, of 52 years Buster Pendleton, her son, Steve Pendleton, and her grandson, Russell Pendleton. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Toni Pendleton of Houston, TX, her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Tony Scorcio of Dallas, TX and daughter in law, Shirley Pendleton of Midland, TX and her sister-in-law, Patsy Emerson of Mesquite, TX. Her granddaughters, Caroline Pendleton of Houston, TX, Kathryn Pendleton of Dallas, TX, grandson, Joshua Hudson of Washington D.C., granddaughters Jennifer Torigue-Pendleton of Vista, CA, Stacy Sandel of Farmington, NM, and Allison Rose of Midland, Texas, six great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
