Education: Although Noah Spencer had little formal learning, he was an avid proponent of public education. He was instrumental in gathering support for a school to be built in the Evergreen community, and he lived to see nine of his children graduate from college. Also, five of his sons earned varsity letters on the LSU (Baton Rouge) football team.
