Hugh P. Avent was a graduate of the West Point class of 1915. This class was known as the class "the stars fell on" because of so many that were raised to generals during World War II. The class included Dwight Eisenhower. It should be noted that Hugh broke Ike's nose during a boxing match while in school. Also, Hugh was captain of the polo team at West point. Hugh roste to the rank of Col. before early retirement because of tuberculosis
